Join SaabSalomon and 2:09 Events, the UK's leading adventure running specialists, at one of these superb Trail Marathons.
Each is set in a fabulous landscape in very different parts of the World: Enjoy the mountain scenery of the Alps or the even more daunting Himalayas with the Swiss Alpine Marathon and Himalayan Kingdom Marathon in Bhutan or the more gentle hills of Tuscany on the Salomon Chianti Ecomarathon. Soak up the sun and history in the remote Sierra Maestra of South Eastern Cuba on trails that follow in the footsteps of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, or enjoy the lush sub-tropical landscape of the Source of the Nile on the unique Gorilla Marathon in Uganda.
The events are suitable for all standards although you do need to be marathon fit otherwise the only requirement is that you do a fair amount of your training on trails to get used to it and have an adventurous spirit. For those who want to dip their toe into the adventure running experience there is always a half marathon option so that you can get a taste for it - but be warned, once you have tried one you will be hooked!
As well as great running experiences these are also superb holiday experiences and non-running partners will enjoy them as much as the runners, they can join all the acclimatisation treks, sightseeing and social activities and are more than welcome to join the party and soak up the atmosphere.
The routes of each marathon have a variety of terrain and you need a trail shoe that will cope with the demands of underfoot conditions that can change regularly. We recommend the Salomon XA PRO 3D ULTRA or Salomon XA Wings with their excellent cushioning and all-round stability and grip.
The weather conditions will be different for each event, bright but cool in Bhutan, changeable in the Alps, hot in Cuba but cooler with the chance of heavy showers in Uganda. We recommend a light weight Salomon rucksack such as the Raid Revo 15 for each trip as there is a fair amount of trekking and slow acclimatization running on each trip, Salomon's Gore Tex Packlite jacket and a sun visor to keep those rays away!
